Photography Class
Today the class did a practice photoshoot at my home...hopefully I can direct you where the other students pics are...but here are a few of Jessy's - the link clicks to the exact post. To look at the rest of her practice - click the banner at the top and it will load all the posts. She did a great job - I think they all realized how hard it is - it always amazes me how great the pics come out - even when the willing volunteers are NOT always so willing :O) Jessy used my camera (MkII) which is not technically fair I guess! Jessy also has access to some sweet actions that I use for my business...Annika used my 30D and the other kids have their own cameras (or their parents cameras I should say!). One of the girls used my heavy lens - that is hard to do - I am excited to see her pics.
It was hard for me to NOT be taking the pictures...I am obsessed...
They had to come away with 3 things they learned...So far here is some of what they said -
1. took too many pics (one student took 1000!) - makes review hard!!!
2. didn't check the pic they took when in a new area - they would just click away without checking the light or composition etc...
3. Be ready at all times
4. Babies are hard!
Their assignment this week is to figure out metering...I helped them set their cameras - they need to work on that as well...
We set up a stand in the garage and used some blankets and quilts...It was hard as there were 4 photographers trying to take the pics - they worked hard and did great! They had many subjects and it was hard to do...it was fun to watch them work...I just assisted - set up the "props", picked spots etc.
Keep shooting - keep finding good LIGHT! People always want the sun ahead of you...try putting it behind the subject :O) Find open shade - a garage works wonders...If you have Photoshop - go find free actions - they are all over the internet - a great site is: Coffeeshop
